Open position: Post-doctoral fellow in biosphere-atmosphere interactions

The strategic research area BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate) is opening a 2-year postdoctoral position in biosphere-atmosphere interactions at the Centre for Environment and Climate Science (CEC, Lund University, Sweden).

The research question concerns the ability of ecosystem carbon fluxes to adapt to changes in the frequency and intensity of drought-rainfall events. The main tasks of the project will be framed around the i) characterization of the disproportional CO2 pulses induced by rainfall events, ii) identification of mechanisms governing these emissions, and iii) quantification of the contribution of these short-term pulses to the annual ecosystem carbon budget. For this, we are looking for a highly-motivated candidate who is specialized in ecosystem fluxes and functioning, with in-depth and substantiated experience of measurements and analyses of greenhouse gas data based on eddy-covariance techniques, and experience in handling large data sets.
