EOSC Symposium 2023

September 20, 2023 - September 22, 2023

From 20-22 September 2023, the EOSC Symposium will take place in Madrid, in the context of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The EOSC Symposium is organised by the EOSC Future project, together with the EOSC Tripartite collaboration (the EOSC Association, the EOSC Steering Board and the European Commission).

This year’s event will be fully hybrid, facilitating broader exchanges between stakeholders from ministries, policy makers, research organisations, service providers, research infrastructures and research communities driving the development of – and engagement with – the European Open Science Cloud. In the context of the EOSC Future project, the EOSC Symposium will also be a critical platform to showcase project achievements and key exploitable results.

Under the heading ‘Taking EOSC into the future’, the Symposium will take on pressing topics and more around EOSC’s sustainability:

  • EOSC after 2027
  • Governance and guidelines
  • Impact on the European Data and Infrastructure ecosystem

ENVRI at the EOSC Symposium

ENVRI community will be represented by ICOS colleagues at the event. ICOS will have a booth in the exhibitors’ space where staff from ICOS Carbon Portal and the Head Office will be on hand to present ICOS data products. These will include the ENVRI Dashboard for the State of the Environment (presented in the session ‘EOSC Future Use Cases‘, accessible online after registration), Jupyter Hub, ICOS Cities and insights on the ATMO Access project.
Come and visit us!

ENVRI Dashboard for the State of the Environment & ENVRI Hub
The dashboard of the state of the environment is an EOSC-powered tool that gathers a significant trove of European environmental data in one location. The simplicity of the customisable interface lowers the threshold to access the data for non-specialists, such as policymakers, educators, and citizen scientists. At the same time, higher-end technical possibilities, such as the Jupyter coupling, offer additional options for more advanced users. https://envri-hub.envri.eu/dashboards

ICOS Cities
ICOS Cities brings together European citizens, policy makers and top scientists in co-designing pioneer greenhouse gas measurement methodologies and services for cities to support climate action. https://www.icos-cp.eu/projects/icos-cities

ICOS’ Jupyter Hub
Jupyter is a Virtual Research Environment (VRE) incorporating a collection of tools for interactive computing and sharing of computational ideas. In ICOS, Jupyter is utilised in multiple ways: a collaborative tool for scientists, an information platform for policy makers and the public and an educational platform. You can access both the  educational and operational Jypiter hub services at https://www.icos-cp.eu/data-services/tools/jupyter-notebook

ICOS Data portal
Access all ICOS’ observational data and eloborated products on greenhouse gases: The access is free, and doesn’t require an account. You can access directly the data products or perform a search via a detailed user interface.
