You will be based within the ELIXIR Hub at the Wellcome Genome Campus, which is the headquarters for ELIXIR, an intergovernmental organisation for life science data. ELIXIR unites Europe’s leading life science organisations in managing and safeguarding the increasing volume of data being generated by publicly funded research. ELIXIR is a distributed research infrastructure – it coordinates, integrates and sustains bioinformatics resources that are run by ELIXIR Nodes in each member state.

The main purpose of this role is to communicate ELIXIR and its activities to key stakeholders, notably partners from the 220+ institutes within ELIXIR, scientists outside ELIXIR and funders. The post-holder will ensure that our communications, publications, social media and digital presence demonstrates ELIXIR’s progression as a world class research infrastructure.

This is an exciting role where opportunities for new activities will emerge constantly. You will work closely with communications officers in ELIXIR Nodes, colleagues in the ELIXIR Hub, and other scientists from within and outside the organisation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for implementing ELIXIR’s Communication Strategy and ownership of ELIXIR’s branding guidelines;
  • Drafting news releases and communication with journalists;
  • Producing printed and digital materials including literature, flyers and Annual Reports, working with external design agencies when needed;
  • Running ELIXIR’s social media accounts (currently Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube);
  • Producing new slides and maintaining the master ELIXIR slide set;
  • Drafting internal and external newsletters via Mailchimp and other email marketing software;
  • Operating an intranet group and network of Communications experts in ELIXIR Nodes;
  • Representing ELIXIR in meetings with stakeholders and supporting ELIXIR’s booths at scientific conferences.
