Workshop: How to use and share data for the public good

June 16, 2020 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Free Online Workshop Tuesday 16th June, 2020 9:30–10:30am EST/2:30–3:30pm BST.

Five hundred million tweets. Sixty-five billion WhatsApp messages. More than 290 billion emails. These are just a few of the estimates of the amount of data we produce daily. And these numbers are expected to continue to increase exponentially.

However, using and sharing this data, especially for the public good, presents great potential and risk, including issues of security, privacy, and consent.

That’s why Apolitical is partnering with SDSN TReNDS in support of its Contracts for Data Collaboration initiative on this workshop, where public servants can learn how to share, access, and use data for the public good.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to overcome the challenges of using and sharing data
  • Best practices for sharing, accessing, and using data (including key aspects of data sharing agreements)
  • How to navigate public-private data partnerships
  • Which resources and tools you can use to take your learning further
