The election for selecting a chair and a vice-chair for the Board of European environmental research infrastructures (BEERi) took place on 27.6.22 under the supervision of PD Dr. Andreas Petzold (Co-coordinator of IAGOS & project coordinator of ENVRI-FAIR).

Helen Glaves, President of the EGU, and Dr. Werner Kutsch, Director-General of ICOS, were elected respectively co-chair and chair of the BEERI, for a mandate that will run until the end of 2023.


“I am honoured to be elected as the vice-chair of the BEERi and look forward to working with the members of this panel of experts for the next two years,” declared Helen Glaves. She adds: “Research Infrastructures are critical for the advancement of European research priorities, and the BEERi has a leading role in ensuring the representation of the environmental cluster.”


Werner Kutsch goes on: “The BEERI is, without a doubt, the most important collaboration platform for European environmental research infrastructures. It’s an honour to support this community as the BEERI Chair. Together with the vice-chair, we will represent efficiently our cluster at the highest level, in Europe and beyond.”
 
The Board of European Environmental Research Infrastructures (BEERi) acts as a coordinating body for the cluster of environmental RIs. It delivers a range of benefits for the participating RIs that includes sharing of perspectives across the different domains, adopting common strategies for engaging with selected activities and opportunities, and acting as a unified voice for environmental research infrastructures in Europe.
